Transcript

On the edge of a village lived a storyteller so old that nobody remembered her being young.

She insisted she had been, and famously good at it. Her knees disagreed.

Two listeners came to her fire. A child called Wren, who had seventeen questions before breakfast.

And a small robot called Cricket, who was very new.

She told them fables. There was a broom that asked, very politely, not to be sent to the cellar.

An owl who would rather invent a whole book than say, “I don’t know.”

And a bird who said yes to everything, even the twelfth jam tart.
