Fireside Fables app privacy policy
The Fireside Fables app lets you read and listen without an account or an Internet connection. We collect no personal data through the app.
Updated 14 October 2026. This privacy policy covers the installed iOS and Android app, published as Young Machines by Nell Watson Ltd on the App Store and by Nell Watson, Inc. on Google Play, with stories by Nell Watson.
What stays on your device
The app stores your reading place, listening position, playback speed, sleep timer deadline, and reading preferences, including colour theme and illustration motion. It also keeps the bundled stories, paintings, recordings and app configuration on your device.
These values support Continue and your chosen settings. They are never sent to us. We cannot view, retrieve or link them to you.
No collection or sharing
The app has no analytics, advertising, accounts, purchases, public comments or private reader-note service. It does not request your name, email address, location, contacts, camera or microphone. It does not send reading or listening activity to us or to an advertising or analytics provider.
The whole book, its chapter recordings and the whole audiobook are included in the installation. No first-run download is needed. There are no external links in the app.
Children and families
The stories are written for shared reading around age ten. The same privacy protections apply to every reader. A child can read, listen and use the questions without supplying personal information.
Retention and deletion
Saved places and settings remain in the app's local storage until they are replaced or the app's data is deleted. On Android, Clear storage in the system app settings removes them, and the app excludes them from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. On iOS, Delete App removes the app and its local data; Offload App retains its data.
Your operating system or app store may manage installation records, diagnostics or device backups under its own settings and privacy notice. Removing this app's local data does not delete an existing device backup. We do not receive your device backups. Apple or Google may make store statistics and diagnostic reports available to us under their own policies and your settings.

An adult can contact Nell Watson through the contact page on Nell Watson's website, nellwatson.com, with questions about this policy. Information you choose to send through that separate website is handled by that website, outside the app.
If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy before the change takes effect.
