Discussion questions

Choose one or two questions. Talk them over, write, or draw. Bring a detail from the tale into your answer.
- Look twice. Which small detail would you point out to someone reading this story for the first time? Why that one?
- Change a moment. Stop the story just before a character makes a choice. What else could they do? Tell the next three sentences.
- Lend someone a voice. What question would you ask a character who says very little? Write two different answers they might give.
- Try another view. Tell one scene from a different character’s place. What can they see that the first character misses?
- Turn the page. Imagine visiting a week after the ending. What has changed? What might still be difficult?
- Keep a question. What would you ask the storyteller by the fire? Which part of the tale leaves you wondering?
